Governor Kelly’s Department of Health & Environment (KDHE) doesn’t want you to see this report. Today, in the final hours of the year, KDHE finally released their 2024 vital statistics report. This includes information about the general population, marriage, birth, and abortion rates. The abortion report used to come out every April. The Kelly Administration has been waiting later each year to release this.

And they are as horrifying as expected.

This year 19,811 babies were killed through abortion. Each day there are 54 abortions – around two every hour. That is almost three times as high as many as the leading causes of death – heart disease and cancer for adults.

Conversely, there 33,956 live births. This was a decrease of 0.2% from the 34,041 births reported in 2023.

The vast majority of abortions were performed on women who don’t live in Kansas – many coming from Missouri, Oklahoma, and Texas. 35 of these abortions were performed on young girls between 10 and 14.

These heartbreaking numbers only tell part of the story. They don’t tell us about the community or the families that are affected. They don’t tell us the impact on future generations of losing nearly 20,000 of its members in one year. They don’t tell us the impact that this decision had on this mom and the trauma that she now has to live with for years to come.

Courts have already enjoined our informed consent laws, in person doctor requirement, clinic licensing laws, and dismemberment abortion ban.

These numbers and statistics are bleak. But we won’t give up on these babies and their families.

They deserve advocates who will stay faithful no matter what!

Will you continue to stand in the gap with us today through your generous year end support? While these numbers seem bleak, we believe that God is doing a work even in these dark days and that brighter days are ahead!

May we be found faithful!
