We are now looking at the state primary elections in the rearview mirror. I truly hope that you were able to vote this past Tuesday.
Kansas Family Voice of North Dakota© provided information telling you which candidates shared your biblical views. All the candidates we endorsed committed in writing, among other key issues, that they agree with statements such as:
- From the moment of conception, the preborn child has a fundamental, individual right to life that cannot be infringed;
- I pledge to work to advance the cause of life by supporting, voting for, and/or signing pro-life legislation to the point where the personhood of the preborn child is embraced with the hope that, one day, abortion is no more;
- I will oppose, vote against, and/or veto adding “sexual orientation,” “gender identity,” or “gender expression” to the protected classes of race, religion, age, sex, and ancestry in nondiscrimination law; and
- I will support, vote for and/or, sign legislation to prohibit government from discriminating against an individual, organization or small business based on their beliefs about marriage and family.
So, what were the results of Tuesday’s primaries? We endorsed seven candidates. Of those seven candidates, five will be moving on to the general election in November. These include Michelle Strinden, Al Carlson, Tom Kading, Karen Karls, and Larry Klemin. Duane Sand and Janelle Steinberg unfortunately will not be on the ballot in November, although they both put up a good fight and we wish they could have moved forward. In addition to the state legislative primary winners, a number of additional Christians in statewide and local elections won their races (e.g. mayors, courts, school boards).
Let’s come forward again in November in the general election and get these primary winners elected into office. They will be there fighting for you and your principles, and that’s what really matters!
Sincerely,
Mark Jorritsma
President and Executive Director
