This week the Kansas House considered several bills  of interest to Kansas Family Voice of Kansas.

One was SB 85 or “Simon’s Law” which protects the right of parents to make decisions in life or death situations involving their minor children. The law is named after little baby Simon who died after a DNR was placed on his chart by a doctor without his parents’ knowledge. The bill passed and is headed to the Governor!

Another was HB 2319 or “Women’s Right to Know Act” (sometimes referred to as the “Disclose Act”) which provides women seeking to obtain an abortion the right to receive important information about their provider, including whether they have ever been disciplined by an oversight board and whether they have clinical privileges at a local hospital. The bill passed the House and is now headed to the Senate!

There was also HR 6016 which recognizes that pornography is a public health hazard leading to a broad spectrum of individual and public health impacts and societal harms, including addiction, marital instability, sex trafficking and prostitution, and domestic violence. The resolution passed the House!

We were proud to work alongside a few outstanding legislators and many partner organizations to move these initiatives forward. The Bible tells us that those in government are “servants of God” (Romans 13:4) and even “ministers” (Romans 13:6) and, in this case, that was certainly true.

Without your prayers and financial support we wouldn’t be able to bring you such great reports. Thank you for partnering with us!

Sincerely,

President
Eric Teetsel
