The Kansas Legislature overrides Gov.  vetoes of Help Not Harm, standing in the gap for Kansas kids and protecting them from experimental procedures!

Topeka, Kan.

Feb. 18, 2025 – After three years, the Kansas Legislature overrode the Kansas Governor Laura Kelly’s veto of The Help Not Harm Act, S.B. 63. The Help Not Harm Act regulates a medical practice for minors ensuring that they cannot receive puberty blockers, cross sex hormones, or surgeries in an attempt to treat gender dysphoria. It includes a provision to allow children who are already on cross sex hormones time to wean off of the hormones. This bill has already passed in 23 states and been upheld by federal courts. It passed the Senate 31-9 and the House 85-34.

Brittany Jones, Director of Policy and Engagement, Kansas Family Voice:

“Today, the Kansas Legislature stood up for Kansas children, ensuring they cannot become test subjects for gender ideologues. Our kids deserve better than being subjected to procedures that even proponents of the procedures have admitted are experimental. This law simply regulates the practice of medicine for a specific purpose. Even while other countries are choosing to end these procedures, Governor Kelly sided with radical activists who are profiting off of children. We are thankful for the House and Senate Leadership who made this bill their top priority for this legislative session.

This law ends these horrific practices in Kansas. Today, the Kansas legislature stands on the side of the majority of Kansans, common sense, and truth. Every child deserves to be loved and protected – not manipulated into making life altering decisions by individuals who profit off of those decisions. We celebrate this new day in Kansas in which Kansas children are protected!”
