We did it! Our family finally made it to the Medora Musical. All of us took a few days of vacation and spent time seeing our beautiful state. Given the number of recommendations from you, our ministry partners, we knew the Medora Musical had to be one stop. We were not disappointed. It was fun, amazing (especially the professional jump rope team), and inspiring. However, all those show elements were not my favorite part of the event.
My favorite moment of the evening was singing the National Anthem with thousands of fellow citizens. It was truly moving. One thing that has struck me after living here for a few years is that we North Dakotans sing the National Anthem and recite the Pledge of Alliance a lot: at school events (and not just sports), banquets, prayer breakfasts, conferences, etc. I love it.
In a time when the politically correct thing is to give in and let ever-increasing pressure force us to abandon our patriotism, North Dakotans know what matters. A recent FOX News article noted that an Atlanta school will no longer say the Pledge of Allegiance at the beginning of the school day, but instead will create a “Wolf Pack Chant” (related to their mascot), focusing on civic responsibility. The elementary school President was quoted saying, “There are many emotions around this and we want everyone in our school family to start their day in a positive manner. After all, that is the whole purpose of our morning meeting.” Um, no it isn’t.
The Pledge of Allegiance is not meant to be some wimpy “feel good” moment. It’s meant to express pride at what our country stands for, honor the men and women who have protected our freedoms, and for us to individually and collectively commit to protect our democracy. I’m proud to be a North Dakotan and American and stand alongside all of you singing the National Anthem and saying the Pledge of Allegiance.
If you want to preserve the freedoms you and your family cherish and “individually and collectively commit to protect our democracy,” you need to act. You need to stay informed about key political events, know when to become involved in the political process, and elect the right men and women who will defend our constitution and the family values it embodies. Does that sound like a lot of work? It is. However, Kansas Family Voice of North Dakota® exists to help you with all these things.
In turn, you can help us accomplish this. Your tax-deductible gift to our operations or to our ongoing election activities with our current unprecedented match opportunities allow us to work together, defending your constitutional rights and family values.
Let’s never be ashamed of who we are as a nation. We’re not perfect, but we are still the beacon on the hill proudly showing the world what “One nation, under God” really means!
Sincerely,
Mark Jorritsma
