“Be subject for the Lord’s sake to every human institution, whether it be to the emperor as supreme, or to governors as sent by him to punish those who do evil and to praise those who do good.” -1 Peter 2:13 (ESV)
Dear Friends:
Greetings from our State Capitol – the Roundhouse – in Santa Fe!
On Tuesday at noon, our state legislature officially convened for the 2018 Legislative Session, commencing a month of debate and decisions on issues that will impact all of us.
To say that things get busy and hectic quickly is an understatement and it is near impossible to keep tabs on all that is happening. During the last 30-day session alone, over 600 bills were introduced – 634 to be exact. Needless to say, that is a lot of paper to filter through!
So, the question becomes, “How can I stay informed about the issues that matter most to me?” Well, that’s where Kansas Family Voice of New Mexico comes in!
We have committed ourselves to serving as a dependable, honest resource to help keep you informed on current events and public policy issues impacting three important areas – religious freedom, the family, and life. Therefore, during this Legislative Session, you can count on us to provide you with timely updates and opportunities to engage with your elected officials.
For the most frequent and recent updates, please be sure to “Follow” us on Twitter and “Like” us on Facebook!
I would also encourage you to familiarize yourself with another great tool at your disposal – the Kansas Family Voice of New Mexico “Action Center”! By visiting the Action Center and entering your zip code, you will have access to a list of all your elected officials – local, state, and national! Additionally, as the Legislative Session progresses, opportunities will likely arise for you to participate in the process by contacting your legislator. These opportunities will be listed as “Action Items” on the Action Center page. Ensuring the laws in New Mexico affirm the dignity of every life, the importance of family, and the right of religious freedom largely depends on lawmakers hearing directly from their constituents, so please check the Action Center often!
Finally, please continue to keep us in your prayers. Our efforts will certainly be met with some opposition; however, our confidence in the Lord remains, “that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him” (1 John 5:14-15).
As always, thank you for your support!
In His Service and For His Glory Alone,
Vince Torres
President and Executive Director
