Dear Friends,
Yesterday was a good day.
Governor Colyer signed the provisions of the Adoption Protection Act into state law, affirming the right of people of faith to enter the public square and ensuring that faith-based adoption and foster care service providers are able to continue their work without fear of punishment by the government.
I had the honor of speaking at the signing ceremony. These are my remarks:
The Christian faith teaches that all who trust in Jesus as their Savior are adopted into God’s family as sons and daughters. A joy of every Christian is to demonstrate the love that God has shown to us by loving others.
We do so by being a father to the fatherless, by seeking justice for the orphan. This is what draws faith-based adoption and foster care service providers to their work. Faith inspires their service.
Today, Governor Colyer signs a bill that honors and affirms the role of faith-based agencies whose work benefits kids in need and provides critical services to the state of Kansas.
America has a proud history of welcoming people of every color, faith, and creed to the participate in the life of the community. Thank you, Governor, for standing up for that legacy today, and maximizing opportunities for kids to find their forever family.
Passing the provisions of the Adoption Protection Act was a big win for life, family, and religious freedom, but the fight goes on. We’re already preparing for next year’s legislative session, including sending state legislators to Family Policy Foundation’s Statesmen Academy next month. In fact, the lead sponsor of the Adoption Protection Act attended the Statesmen Academy last year, and put that training to good use while advancing this bill.
Will you partner with us to train our legislators to advance our values in Topeka? Right now, we have a donor matching every gift to the Statesmen Academy dollar-for-dollar up to $120,000.
Make a tax-deductible gift to Family Policy Foundation today!
Sincerely,
Eric Teetsel
