Scope
- This document defines the requirements of the Advisory Board of The Church Ambassador Network of Kansas (CAN-KS).
- The CAN-KS Advisory Board is a group of Christian leaders who lend their skills, guidance, and knowledge to the CAN-KS Director. The board offers advise to help CAN-KS grow and achieve its goals.
Advisory Board Member Qualifications
- Each Advisory Board member agrees with the CAN-KS Statement of Faith:
- We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God.
- We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
- We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.
- We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful people, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.
- We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.
- We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.
- We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
- Each Advisory Board member agrees with the CAN-KS Mission: “Inspiring the Church to Engage Government for the Advance of God’s Kingdom.”
- Each Advisory Board member agrees to the CAN-KS Vision: “A Kansas where the Church influences society with biblical truth in every school district, city, county, and the three branches of Kansas state government.”
- Each Advisory Board member agrees with the CAN-KS Core Values:
- Christ-Centered. Christ must be at the center of everything we do. We aim to lift God’s Word up in everything we do.
- Grace-Driven. In a place where political battles can make grace rare, we aim to be motivated by grace.
- Non-Partisan. Christ does not fit into any political ideology. As ambassadors it is important we keep an independent voice, with allegiance only to Christ.
- Relationally-Built. We move at the speed of relationships through the leading of the Holy Spirit. We desire to engage in deeper Christ-centered relationships.
- Partnership-Minded. It is our heart to build partnerships between churches and between the Church and government.
- Prayer-Focused. Our mission is dependent on prayer. God moves and changes lives through prayer.
- Advisory Board members meet the character qualities outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1-7:
- The saying is trustworthy: If anyone aspires to the office of overseer, he desires a noble task. 2 Therefore an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, 3 not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. 4 He must manage his own household well, with all dignity keeping his children submissive, 5 for if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for God’s church? 6 He must not be a recent convert, or he may become puffed up with conceit and fall into the condemnation of the devil. 7 Moreover, he must be well thought of by outsiders, so that he may not fall into disgrace, into a snare of the devil. (ESV)
- Advisory Board members are members in good standing at a local church.
- Advisory Board members actively promote any denominational or network days in the Kansas Capitol that are coordinated by the CAN-KS Director with an Advisory Board member. These days require appropriate advance planning to encourage pastors to come to the Kansas Capitol to engage with elected officials and participate with CAN-KS.
- Advisory Board members are active supporters of the Church Ambassador Network, contributing financially as God directs. Giving is encouraged but not required.
- Advisory Board members serve for an unspecified length of time.
- A commitment of one year is requested.
