| Good morning, Today is the first day of the 2024 Kansas Legislative Session and I have an urgent ask for you. This afternoon both chambers of the legislature will be voting on a resolution in defense of Israel’s right and duty to defend itself following the horrific attacks carried out by Hamas on October 7, 2023. I am asking you to contact your legislator right now and ask them to support this resolution! More than 1,400 individuals were brutally killed, including Americans. Women were brutally raped. Babies were ripped out of mother’s womb and then beheaded. The elderly were attacked. The most vulnerable were targeted and terrorized. Some of the things are too terribly even to try to relay. This just scratches the surface of the events that unfolded that day. No country is perfect. That does not mean that a terrorist organization has the right to break the international law and brutalize civilians. Now you might wonder why an organization like Kansas Family Voice is getting involved in an international issue. Because we believe in life, the dignity of women, and the dignity of every human being, we believe that is imperative that we support our nation’s long ally, Israel. The Jewish people and the Jewish state have been attacked from every side for generations. Scripture is clear, even as Balam prophesied, “Whoever blesses Israel will be blessed, And whoever curses Israel will be cursed.” Numbers 24:9. This does not mean we have to agree with everything that the modern state of Israel does and they are impervious to criticism. But it does mean, at the very least, when we see atrocities being committed against them that we should come to their aid and support them.
