As I predicted in last week’s email, the North Dakota legislature is off to a fast start after its recess. On Monday, I testified in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee in favor of two pro-life bills. HB 1336 would ensure that women seeking an abortion would be fully informed that chemical abortions can be reversed after taking the first of two pills. Testimony in favor of the bill was provided by many pro-life organizations and medical professionals from across North Dakota and it was particularly noteworthy that the doctors confirmed that abortion pill reversal was effective, safe for the mother, and a verified medical procedure. We want to thank Representative Dan Johnston for sponsoring this great bill!
The second bill was HB 1546. It would ban the gruesome dismemberment of live preborn children while still in their mother’s womb. There was also significant testimony in favor of this bill and we thank Representative Luke Simons for sponsoring this excellent piece of legislation. Both Representatives Johnston and Simons are graduates of our Statesmen Academy and we are so proud of the way they are integrating their faith into the policy arena by sponsoring bills such as these.
In addition to these bills, Kansas Family Voice of North Dakota took positions and testified on bills related to expanding teaching opportunities for home schoolers, providing safety information to school children, and increasing income tax credits for donations to private schools. We also conducted research on bills, talked with legislators, monitored floor votes, and created action alerts for you, our ministry partners. And all that was just on Monday and Tuesday of this week!
We thank you for your prayers, action you’ve taken such as contacting legislators, and financial support. We also greatly appreciate your prayers and messages of support you regularly provide to us on social media and in emails. Your support means the world to us and we are blessed to represent you and your biblical values.
Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you. – Deuteronomy 31:6
